In 1992, David Anthony released “Free Your Mind” featuring Pedro Herrera — a niche vinyl club record that quietly became a 90s underground classic among house DJs.
Originally pressed to wax and championed in dark rooms and late-night sets, the track carried a deep, soulful house energy layered with tribal percussion and early Afro-house textures. It wasn’t built for radio. It was built for the dancefloor.
Over the years, selectors like Honey Dijon and Carl Cox kept the record alive in their sets — introducing it to new generations of club-goers. What was once an underground gem started surfacing again through modern DJ culture.
As interest grew, digital platforms including Apple Music reached out for clarity around the original release and master recordings.
Because David was the original producer — and a true keeper of his gear — he still owned many of the same synths, modules, and drum machines used in the early ’90s sessions. Rather than simply remastering the vinyl, he meticulously recreated the record from the ground up, rebuilding the sound with the original hardware that shaped it.
The newly released version is the Tribal House mix — raw, driving, and club-ready — with additional versions scheduled to follow.
This is classic David Anthony at his best: authentic, soulful, and built for the floor.
