From R&B to Afro House: How David Anthony and Dillio Reimagined "Our Love"
Sometimes the best collaborations happen naturally.
When producer, musician, and mix engineer David Anthony connected with artist and content creator Dillio through mutual collaborator Kboogie, neither of them set out to create an Afro House record. Their initial conversations revolved around something much simpler: music, software, studio gear, and the endless pursuit of better sound.
As two creators deeply immersed in different sides of the music world, they quickly found common ground.
Dillio, known by many producers as Dilliot2k, has spent years building a loyal following through his music production tutorials, beat-making videos, and original releases. David Anthony has built a career spanning more than three decades, producing, mixing, and engineering records across R&B, Hip-Hop, House, and Dance music while working with some of the industry's biggest artists.
The connection eventually led David to listen through one of Dillio's projects.
One song immediately stood out.
"Our Love."
The original version carried a strong emotional message, memorable melodies, and soulful vocals. But David heard something else within the record: the potential for a completely different energy.
"I immediately heard how the song could live in the Afro House world," says David. "The melody, the message, and the vocal performance already had the right ingredients."
Rather than starting from scratch, the goal became transformation.
The original R&B framework was rebuilt around energetic percussion, driving rhythms, and a club-ready groove while preserving the emotional core of the song. By increasing the tempo and introducing Afro House-inspired production elements, the track evolved into something that feels equally comfortable on a dance floor or during a personal listening session.
At its heart, "Our Love" tells the story of two people connected through their own unique way of expressing love. The song embraces the idea that meaningful relationships don't always follow a traditional blueprint. As the lyric suggests, "We love in our own way."
That message became the foundation for everything else.
What makes the collaboration particularly interesting is the combination of backgrounds. Dillio is not traditionally known as an Afro House artist. David Anthony is widely recognized for his work across House, Dance, R&B, and Pop music. Together, they created something that sits comfortably between multiple genres without being confined by any of them.
The result is a record that speaks to fans of Afro House, Soulful House, Afrobeat, and R&B while demonstrating how modern music continues to blur stylistic boundaries.
For Planet Hum Records, "Our Love" represents the label's ongoing commitment to genre-fluid music that prioritizes emotion, groove, and musicality above all else.
The collaboration between David Anthony and Dillio proves that when strong songwriting meets inspired production, great music can find new life in unexpected places.
"Our Love" is available now on all major streaming platforms.
